Helping people in Fuel Poverty

Tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon emissions are two of the most important concerns for house-owners, tenants and landlords today.

Fuel poverty is defined as a household who spends more than 10% of their income on heating the home and it is estimated that near 3 ½   million households in the UK are in fuel poverty and struggle to maintain adequate heating for their homes (2) (2008 estimated figures).

Fuel efficiency is the aim for the future and the HeatKing air source heat pumps can offer up to 75% reduction in energy bills (compared to an all-electric system and combined with insulation) which can create affordable heating for even the hardest to treat homes.

“Fuel poverty, where a household cannot afford to keep warm, damages the health of those living in cold homes and affects their quality of life. The old, children, and those who are disabled or have long-term illness are especially vulnerable. The main cause of fuel poverty in the UK is a combination of poor energy efficiency in homes and low incomes.”(1)
