Case Study
Piercebridge, Darlington
The Piercebridge project is an installation of Air Source Heat Pumps in four semi-detached bungalows at Piercebridge in the North East of England. As the first installation of this kind to be undertaken by Darlington Borough Council the project was jointly funded by Community Energy Solutions (CES) and in addition to the installations six additional engineers were also trained.
Living in an off-gas area the tenants used electric storage heaters for all their heating needs resulting in extremely high heating bills. Whilst the heaters were retained for the hot water requirements, all four properties were fitted with a 6kW air source heat pump. The units will enable the homes to reduce carbon emissions and greatly reduce their heating bills by up to 70% whilst residents enjoy a much more flexible heating system.
