The High Wray Village Hall in Cumbria was chosen by the leading national fuel poverty charity, NEA for a Community Buildings Project. The installation of a HeatKing air source heat pump was the first of its kind in the UK. High Wray village hall, a 150 year old Cumbria slate building, is a vital meeting place for local people in this small village which has no post office or public house.ccess of the project led to commendation for the Renewable Innovation Award 2006.
The 12kW HeatKing air source heat pump was found to be the solution for this hard to treat building which had solid walls and no connection to mains gas. A 12kW heat pump was installed to the rear of the building on floor mounts. Inside the hall radiators were installed along with fan ventor heaters and a programmable thermostat. The much lower cost of heating and improvement in facilities has made the installation a huge success for this hard to treat village hall.
