High Wray Village Hall, Cumbria
A hard to treat village hall in Cumbria with solid walls, no installation and no connection to mains gas found a HeatKing air source heat pump to be the answer. The installation of a 12kW unit in addition to radiators, fan vector heaters and a programmable thermostat was the first of its kind in the UK and led to a commendation in the Renewable Innovation Awards in 2006.

Stones Old School House, Ripponden
Built on the site formerly occupied by the Stones Methodist Church School in Ripponden West Yorkshire the small development of four family houses has been built by Concept Design & Build and is constructed to exceed the building regulations up to the year 2016. Constructed from SIPs an enhanced timber frame system, the homes have Argon Gas filled double glazing and a heat recovery system. The high level of insulation and the use of a heat recovery system resulted in a very small need for conventional heating however to boost the lower ground heating and to assist with the pre-heating of domestic hot water a HeatKing 6000kW air source heat pump was selected. to supply additional heat through underfloor heating on the ground floor. The HeatKing unit exceeded the specification and as a local manufacturer proved to be an environmentally conscious solution in every way.

Kirklees Project, West Yorkshire
The Kirklees project is improving the lives of many local residents in this West Yorkshire area. Previously all properties were fitted with electric storage heaters, a system which was no longer cost effective or energy efficient. The installation of a 6 or 8kW air source heat pump combined with internal radiators and a boost heater is delighting many residents and almost 50 units have now been installed. The units will enable the homes to reduce carbon emissions and heating costs by up to 70% whilst residents enjoy a much more flexible heating system. |
